LIGHTING CAMERAMAN / DOCUMENTARY CAMERAMAN
I have been a freelance Lighting Cameraman and Documentary Cameraman since 1983. My experience covers everything from avante-garde films to corporates, documentaries to film drama and television news to rock promos. In particular I have worked on many arts and music programmes and collaborated with artists on many experimental projects.
In 1994 I formed a production company metamedia with director Mike Stubbs, which specialised in arts-based shorts, for which I wrote and shot the experimental documentary Homing, premiered in the London Film Festival. For metamedia I recently shot and produced Resistor, for BBC 2’s Dance for the Camera series and prior to that shot and produced Gift for the BBC2 Sound On Film series.The collaborative working process crosses many of the traditional boundaries of the industry and has been extremely productive.
I have shot around hundred documentaries and dramas and for independent producers in addition to working on numerous television series for the major broadcasters, rock promos, commercials, experimental films and corporates. From 1980 to 1989 I was based in Cardiff working on a wide range of programmes for S4C independents, BBC Wales and HTV. Increasingly my work has grown to incorporate writing and producing
I have also worked extensively in multimedia both producing and shooting for CD-ROM products, worked as a consultant and lecturer on digital technology and ran metamedia's digital post-production facility in Soho.
